› Architectural Photography
After many years in the construction industry I feel I can be proud of what I have achieved. Walking around many of the country's biggest cities there are many landmarks I can point at and say I helped to make that possible, often boring my grand children with my old stories of working on site. Last Christmas my eldest child came up with the idea of commissioning an album of architectural photography of all the buildings I had worked on in my career and I was absolutely thrilled.
Not really knowing much about architectural photography I had to investigate the subject online a little, but soon found an excellent agency who specialise in that kind of work. They were very helpful and explained to me the various different styles and themes they could use in architectural photography to meet my own aesthetic tastes.
In the end I elected for a collection of black and white photos with a slight grain to them, not unlike the posters you see of the New York sky line as it was being built in the first half of the last century. I always found it interesting how a few personal snaps gradually became famous items of architectural photography and I suppose I wanted some of my own.
All in all, I was touched by the suggestion and very pleased with the finished product. Thanks to architectural photography, now I can bore my grandchildren without ever having to leave my sitting room!
